Biography

Roman Zavarov was born in 1986 in the former Soviet Union, where his parents were both professional ballet dancers. Following in their footsteps, he entered the Bolshoi Ballet Academy at age 10 and had his first performance with the Bolshoi Ballet Company at age 13.

Subsequently Roman expanded upon his Russian School foundations by finishing his training with the Balanchine and Cecchetti based curricula of the Rock School and the Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education.

After completing his pre-professional training and simultaneously graduating second in his class from a top New England prep school, Roman was offered positions with four of the five leading ballet companies in the eastern USA and performed under contract with two of these in the two subsequent seasons: joining Boston Ballet II in 2004, ABT Studio Company in 2005, and The Boston Ballet Company for the 2005-2006 season.

For the 2006-2007 season, Roman is immersed in advanced modern dance and dramatic arts training at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he was awarded the Director's Talent Scholarship.

Roman has continued to perform as a soloist throughout the 2006-2007 season both for UArts and for the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet Society, including in gala concerts and in the title role of The Nutcracker Prince.

Roman's full resume, including his international performance history and repertoire, are available upon request from The Apogee Foundation.
